After a long break in City of S.F. and Turkish community relations - the city of San Francisco raised the Turkish Flag on the Mayor's Balcony at the City Hall on October 29, 2012. The city issued a proclamation recognizing October 29 as the Turkish Heritage and Friendship Day.

Honorary Consul General Bonnie Joy Kaslan, Trade Attache Ebru Gülsoy, ATAA President Ergun Kırlıkovalı, Presidents of TAAC Sacramento Berk Evrensel, TAAC Bay Area Öner Bıçakçı, TABC President Efe Orhun, as well as TABC's Director of Corporate Relations Buğra Bakan, Content and Media Director Can Demiray, AC Transit Board Ward 1 Candidate  Yelda Bartlett and a select group from Turkish Community were in attendance.

The ceremony was led by Caitlin Jacobson, where a proclamation was presented to Honorary Consul General Bonnie Joy Kaslan followed by a champagne toast. On behalf of the Turkish Community Ercan Erberk, (the catalyst of this event) presented a handmade silver plate to the City of San Francisco.

Thanks to great efforts of TAAC, this year cities of Cupertino, Palo Alto, Hayward, Milpitas, Livermore, Martines, Vallejo, and Santa Rosa issued proclamations recognizing October 29 as the Turkish Republic Day.
